*Mentor: one who guides and stimulates an individual's reflection and actions for improved personal and professional outcomes.

Why do you need a mentor?

Your career is your life's work. Invest some time and a little money to make sure you are happy and on the right track!

The best plans are developed by thinking through, clarifying, and verbalizing your own values and goals. I will help you to “give yourself the best advice”, using the Mentoring Method.

You may be looking at the trees; I will help you see the forest!

I like helping my mentees think through their own feelings and values, situation and plans and come out of the process inspired and sure of their path .

So much of our career, and life, depends on luck! However, we can improve the chance of success, be happier and more confident, if we take the time to analyze our current situation profoundly and express our values and goals.

If I had had a professional mentor, I would have been more ambitious in some ways, more patient in others. In retrospect I worked too hard and worried too much!

I want to share my consumer goods experience with YOU!

Successful young man

  • I've just been promoted. How shall I approach the big challenges ahead?  Or:
  • Could I do better at a different company?  Or:
  • I know I do great work, but we've just gone through a re-organization and I have to find a new assignment.

YOU are a career executive with a great company.

If everything is great, can you make it even better?

On the other hand, are you being upfront with yourself about your values and goals?

Do you just have questions about your future?

In the next section you will see the overall career mentoring method. We'll tailor it to your needs.

We'll work together to identify your values and what you really seek from your career.

I'll share my experience and together we can generate ideas and plans to achieve your goals. Then we'll track your progress.

We'll focus on developing your innate abilities to make your own success. We'll talk through the big decisions so that you've considered all the alternatives and consequences.

If you've been given additional responsibilities in a new field I can discuss many business areas to guide you. I've probably worked on something similar before.

Successful young woman

  • Does my company recognize all my talents? Or:
  • How do I get that promotion? Or:
  • How should I handle my boss? Or:
  • Is this really what I want to do for the rest of my life?

(Seeing you succeed is my biggest reward)

THE CAREER MENTORING METHOD

Mentoring creates a space for productive reflection and critical thinking.
Everyone is different. You and I will focus on what you need, using this method.

Your values

In our first session we'll get to know each other and have a frank discussion about what is really important to you. It's the foundation for your life's work.

Your goals

Now we know what's important, together we will develop some achievable but challenging goals: for now and for later.

Your plan

With the benefit of your own insight and maybe some advice from me, we'll develop a plan to achieve your goals, with milestones and a "Plan B".

Make it happen

Over the long haul we'll work together to keep focused and monitor outcomes. Life is not predictable; we'll make adjustments on the journey.

Strengths Analysis When we start, I'll encourage you to complete an online test
Confidentiality I will not talk to anyone about our work together.

I'm there for you
Having completed the initial phase of our work together we can have less frequent "maintenance" discussions for reflection, or if a new issue comes up.

Basic career skills we will always discuss:

 Work/life balance:
Let's keep this in mind throughout all our work together.

 Human resources & office politics:
We need people who can do the job and get along. Human beings are by nature social and political beings and this is how they work together and resolve issues. Office politics are not something we should try to "eliminate". We have to understand The Team and help it to work well.

 Team leadership & interpersonal skills:
Working successfully with people is the most important part of business. Nothing else matters as much!

 Time management:
Why do we go to busy people when we want something done?

 Managing your manager:
Make her a hero!

HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE AND WHAT IS THE COST?

We'll work online via MSTeams or Zoom

The first "get-to-know-you" session is free

Subsequent sessions last 50 minutes

A typical relationship may involve meeting every one or two weeks for 90 days

When we've finished we will review our progress. We can move onto a "maintenance" program

Each session costs less than a good dinner for two
